🐕 Dog Beach & Dog-Friendly Ocean Beach

Dog Beach is off-leash 24 hours a day — one of only two off-leash beaches in San Diego.

Always clean up after your dog; bag stations and trash cans are provided near the entrance.

There are rinse-off showers near the entrance to wash sandy/salty paws.

Near the San Diego River mouth, water quality can dip after rain — avoid letting dogs drink or swim there following storms.

Bring fresh water; summer sand gets hot. Watch for fishhooks and keep dogs under voice control.

Large free lot off Bacon St near the river — about a 10-min walk west to Dog Beach. Can fill completely during softball tournaments and other sports events; check the City's Robb Field page (sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/centers/recctr/robb) before you go.

Free lot closest to Dog Beach at the end of West Point Loma Blvd. Fills fast on weekends and warm days.
